What’s on in Bristol- May

The best thing about the city of Bristol is being immersed in some of the most exciting and fun events all within walking distance.Now that summer is just around the corner, May is set to be full of things to see and do for Bristolians and visitors to the city.

Here’s our guide:

 

May 9th– 14th: Derren Brown: Miracle (The Hippodrome)

The multi award winning illusionist Derren Brown is back on tour with a brand new show ‘Miracle’ at Bristol Hippodrome theatre, which The Guardian rated as 4 out of 5 as a ‘playful perplexing night’.

 

May 12th– 22nd: Mayfest (Various locations)

Bristol’s unique contemporary theatre festival which looks to present a range of unusual, playful and ambitious work from leading theatre makers from all over the world, propelled by the city’s thriving live art and performance culture.

 

May 13th– 15th: Foodies Festival (Clifton Downs)

With flavours from all over the world, visitors will enjoy a huge array of cuisines including Japanese, Thai, Mexican, French and Turkish. This year’s festival will see a five star line up of top chefs and TV personalities and has also signed up with the Unsigned Music Awards for a great weekend of food and live music.

 

May 14th: Rave on Avon (Stokes Croft)

An all day festival with outdoor stages in Lakota garden, Full Moon garden and various other pubs and bars around the popular and lively area of Stokes Croft. A day filled with music, stalls, food and games.

 

May 21st– 22nd: Vegfest (Amphitheatre and the Waterfront)

The UK’s biggest vegan event will return to Bristol where there will be 160 stalls serving some of the best vegan food with live music and bars for a guaranteed fun and tasty day out.

 

May 28th-30th: Birthday at the Old Vic (Various locations)

For theatre lovers, Bristol sees an exciting 250th birthday of Bristol Old Vic; the oldest continuously working theatre in the English speaking world. The May bank holiday will see a whole host of performances, street festivals and much more to mark this special occasion.

 

May 28th-29th: Love Saves the Day (Eastville Park)

At the end of this month in May, ‘Love Saves the Day’ will return to Eastville Park for its 5th year where it promises a jammed packed weekend full of music, glitter and fun. The line-up includes Dizzee Rascal, Hot Chip and is all set to be a scorcher for the bank holiday weekend.
